Revolusi Kebangkitan Rakyat Negara China Menggulingkan Maharaja China

China menjadi REPUBLIK.

In London, Sabahan wanted for sedition taunts IGP after meeting Sarawak CM

KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 — Wanted in Sabah for alleged sedition, Europe-based activist Doris Jones today questioned why she was allowed to walk in freely to the Malaysian High Commission in London without being handcuffed.

Following a recent meeting with Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem at the commission, Doris posted photos of the event as proof and issued a challenge to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

“Saya cabar Khalid Abu Bakar, jika benar ada arahan ke Interpol; mengapa semalam itu saya DI DALAM bangunan SURUHANJAYA KEDUTAAN MALAYSIA saya ni tidak di gari mengikut AKTA HASUTAN?” she wrote on social networking site Facebook this afternoon.

[Translation: I challenge Khalid Abu Bakar, if it’s true there was order given to Interpol; why is it last night when I was INSIDE the Malaysian High Commission I was not handcuffed according to the Sedition Act?]

The Sabahan also wrote on Facebook that she has yet to meet with Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

In February, Sabah police confirmed that an arrest warrant had been issued for a 46-year-old Doris Yapp Kim Youn to bring her to court for sedition, also stating that Interpol had been contacted for assistance.

But Doris, who is accused of masterminding a Sabah and Sarawak secessionist movement, had told Malay Mail Online then that she has not heard anything from Interpol or the Malaysian police about the arrest warrant.

Doris, said to be behind a controversial social media movement called Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia or SSKM, said she is working under a United Kingdom-based non-governmental organisation called Sabah Sarawak Union.

The SSKM movement shot to prominence last year when a police report was lodged by a non-governmental organisation demanding police investigate the alleged act of treason.

The movement’s Facebook page gained more traction and had in February garnered nearly 32,000 “Likes”, mostly from Sabah’s rural youths.

Banning of Sabah May Day rally unlawful, says Sabah secessionist

KOTA KINABALU, April 29 — UK-based activist Doris Jones hit out today at the “shocking” ban on Sabah Bersih 2.0’s May Day rally, claiming it was not in line with the current law of the land.

The founder of the controversial social media movement Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia said the move contradicts the Sedition Act and the Peaceful Assembly Act, which she pointed out do not prohibit peaceful protests, even if they are to criticise government policies.

“The government is now back stepping on the newly amended Sedition Act by not even allowing the event to go on. What is the point of the law? They are stifling freedom of expression, by persecution before any offence has actually been committed.

“In west Malaysia, organisers would be hauled in for questioning at least after a rally has occurred to investigate whether an offence has been committed,” she said when speaking to Malay Mail Online.

Jones, who is wanted by Malaysian police under the Sedition Act for promoting secession, said that the authorities needed to give an acceptable reason as to why the rally was not granted approval when it went through the proper legal procedure.

“It looks bad in the international arena. Stifling peaceful protests using the excuse of a security threat is not acceptable. The police are meant to maintain peace and order during a peaceful protest, not banning them even before anything untoward has happened.

“If they can do this, then they can do anything they want next time,” she said.

Jones, who said she has worked in the legal fraternity, also questioned the court order which required signatures from the named leaders but not the unnamed 17th respondent — “members of the public”.

“How can you ban someone from entering the city? It seems unfair that the political leaders are meant to voice public opinion, and they have to sign the court order, but not others?” she asked.

Jones, who has been identified by police as Doris Yapp, said she had volunteers from her non-governmental organisation “Sabah Sarawak Union” who were planning on attending the rally to support the cause.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Asfia: ‘Independence referendum’ seditious

STATE Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar ruled on Friday that the term ‘independence referendum’ was seditious and ordered David Wong (DAP-Pelawan) to withdraw it.

“I do not want any further discussion on this. Even under the old Sedition Act, any seditious tendency would be considered seditious. I do not want members here to be called as witnesses when you are being charged,” said Asfia when responding to Wong, who earlier asked whether it was seditious to call for an ‘independence reference’ in the state.

Debating the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri’s address, Wong also touched on the fact that the prime minister had not made a stand on Hudud law.

His remark invited Assistant Minister for Youth Development (Urban Areas) Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah (BN-Asajaya) to comment: “I want to ask him who is the one who introduced Hudud law in Kelantan – is it BN or your partner PAS?”

Wong immediately replied: “No, no partner. You got it wrong.”

He argued that PAS would not have implemented Hudud law in Kelantan without the help of Umno, adding: “Umno is using this to separate Pakatan Rakyat (PR). And DAP Sarawak is no longer part of PR Sarawak.”

Karim pointed out the chief minister’s stand on the implementation of Hudud law had been clear – that the Islamic law would not come to pass in Sarawak.

On Wong’s explanation, he said: “At federal level, you are still a partner with PAS.”

Their tit-for-tat prompted Asfia to remark: “Although DAP Sarawak breaks away from PR Sarawak, the main DAP Malaysia is still with PAS.”

Chong Chieng Jen (DAP-Kota Sentosa) then sought a clarification, saying all Sarawakians “are unanimous on the stand that Hudud should not be implemented in Sarawak.”

He added: “Yes, our national side is with PR, but BN is equally guilty because Umno and PAS are both guilty of implementing Hudud. But we can be united to kick Umno and PAS out of Sarawak.”

As soon as he was done, an unidentified assemblyman burst out: “There is no Umno in Sarawak.”

Turning to another matter, Wong alleged that the state’s request for 20 per cent oil and gas royalty was ‘turned down’.

Asfia laughed and ruled: “Under Standing Order 32(12), you should not mislead the Dewan deliberately. You used the word turned down, but it was not turned down.”

Wong protested: “It is not misleading. It was not successful, which means it failed. Is there any difference than turned down? Anyway, the question now is what is next? We want to stand behind the chief minister, and we want the 20 per cent royalty.”

He even suggested BN backbenchers “should be sent for re-education to know their duties as their job is to question and not to laud what the government had done”.

He concluded his debate speech by lamenting there was not even one flyover in Sibu and that Sibu Hospital needed a multi-storey carpark. He also wondered when the Lanang toll fees would be waived.

Angry With Washington, 1 In 4 Americans Open To Secession

BOSTON, Sept 19 (Reuters) - The failed Scottish vote to pull out from the United Kingdom stirred secessionist hopes for some in the United States, where almost a quarter of people are open to their states leaving the union, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found.

Some 23.9 percent of Americans polled from Aug. 23 through Sept. 16 said they strongly supported or tended to support the idea of their state breaking away, while 53.3 percent of the 8,952 respondents strongly opposed or tended to oppose the notion.

The urge to sever ties with Washington cuts across party lines and regions, though Republicans and residents of rural Western states are generally warmer to the idea than Democrats and Northeasterners, according to the poll.

Anger with President Barack Obama's handling of issues ranging from healthcare reform to the rise of Islamic State militants drives some of the feeling, with Republican respondents citing dissatisfaction with his administration as coloring their thinking.

But others said long-running Washington gridlock had prompted them to wonder if their states would be better off striking out on their own, a move no U.S. state has tried in the 150 years since the bloody Civil War that led to the end of slavery in the South.

"I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference anymore which political party is running things. Nothing gets done," said Roy Gustafson, 61, of Camden, South Carolina, who lives on disability payments. "The state would be better off handling things on its own."

Scottish unionists won by a wider-than-expected 10-percentage-point margin.

Falling public approval of the Obama administration, attention to the Scottish vote and the success of activists who accuse the U.S. government of overstepping its authority - such as the self-proclaimed militia members who flocked to Nevada's Bundy ranch earlier this year during a standoff over grazing rights - is driving up interest in secession, experts said.

"It seems to have heated up, especially since the election of President Obama," said Mordecai Lee, a professor of governmental affairs at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, who has studied secessionist movements.

'OBAMACARE' A FACTOR

Republicans were more inclined to support the idea, with 29.7 percent favoring it compared with 21 percent of Democrats.

Brittany Royal, a 31-year-old nurse from Wilkesboro, North Carolina, said anger over the "Obamacare" healthcare reform law made her wonder if her state would be better off on its own.

"That has really hurt a lot of people here, myself included. My insurance went from $40 a week for a family of four up to over $600 a month for a family of four," said Royal, a Republican. "The North Carolina government itself is sustainable. Governor (Pat) McCrory, I think he has a better healthcare plan than President Obama."

By region, the idea was least popular in New England, the cradle of the Revolutionary War, with just 17.4 percent of respondents open to pulling their state out.

It was most popular in the Southwest, where 34.1 percent of respondents back the idea.

That region includes Texas, where an activist group is calling the state's legislature to put the secession question on a statewide ballot. One Texan respondent said he was confident his state could get by without the rest of the country.

"Texas has everything we need. We have the manufacturing, we have the oil, and we don't need them," said Mark Denny, a 59-year-old retiree living outside Dallas on disability payments.

Denny, a Republican, had cheered on the Scottish independence movement.

"I have totally, completely lost faith in the federal government, the people running it, whether Republican, Democrat, independent, whatever," he said.

Even in Texas, some respondents said talk about breaking away was more of a sign of their anger with Washington than evidence of a real desire to go it alone. Democrat Lila Guzman, of Round Rock, said the threat could persuade Washington lawmakers and the White House to listen more closely to average people's concerns.

"When I say secede, I'm not like (former National Rifle Association president) Charlton Heston with my gun up in the air, 'my cold dead hands.' It's more like - we could do it if we had to," said Guzman, 62. "But the first option is, golly, get it back on the right track. Not all is lost. But there might come a point that we say, 'Hey, y'all, we're dusting our hands and we're moving on.'" The Next 10 Countries: The World's Most Likely New Nations

Looking for a quiet, never changing job? In recent history, barring tectonic shifts in global politics, internationally recognized states rarely come into (or out of) existence and therefore the world map has stayed relatively unchanged. While cartography is seemingly the most consistent (read: boring) occupation as of late, maps aren't always that quiet.

The two World Wars, decolonization, and the fall of the Soviet Union are examples of events that have altered world politics, and at the time, kept cartographers scrambling to keep up with ever-shifting borders. We appear to be witnessing two similarly important (though smaller scaled) phenomena – the localization of Europe, and the ‘unthawing’ of states frozen in the aftermath of the dissolution of the U.S.S.R.

With the expansion of the European Union and the maturation of its institutions, nations within member states that have held on to historic ties with their parent states are finding incentives to seek autonomy. These rewards include retention of economic and political benefits of E.U. membership, while attaining greater sovereignty and, consequently, more control on internal affairs such as taxes, education, and localized government.

Post-Soviet frozen states have operated in a de-facto pariah status since the early 1990s, making little headway toward international recognition, receiving only tacit support from Russia. However the declaration of independence of Kosovo from Serbia in 2008 caused an abrupt change in Russian foreign policy, serving as pretext for war in Georgia the same year, and for the annexation of Crimea in 2014, and the continued Russian support of the rebellion in Ukraine presently. Russia’s endgame remains unclear but looks to potentially result in the ascension of several newly independent states to the world stage.

Some independence struggles such as those in Tibet and Palestine have achieved constant worldwide recognition and media support, yet difficult political circumstances have rendered them ineffective in their goals, decade after decade. However, less geopolitically significant independence struggles have come to fruition, as we have seen in the past decades with Timor Leste and South Sudan.

In the coming years, we may see some of these nations-in-waiting move from the farm leagues to the big time, and hopefully with less loss of life than we’ve seen in the past.

Catalonia

Catalonia is a region of Spain located on the northeast coast of the Mediterranean Sea bordering France and Andorra. It was the first region of what is now Spain to come under Roman rule, and has enjoyed varying degrees of autonomy under successive rulers since the Middle Ages. Under four decades of the Franco dictatorship in the 20th century, the Spanish government suppressed Catalan language and culture. During this period, Catalan language media, along with regional holidays, were outlawed all together.

Since Spain’s transition to democracy in the 1970s-80s, national efforts have been in place to revitalize Catalan culture including the requirement of all primary education in the region to be delivered in Catalan. A 2010 law to promote Catalan culture required all movie theaters to show at least 50% of movies in Catalan, however, it was subsequently annulled by the European Commission two years later,

The Catalan independence movement has been concurrent with Catalan cultural revitalization efforts. Catalan nationalists have held the majority in Catalan Parliament or have been part of a ruling coalition since 1980. Since 2009, several local non-binding referendums on independence have been held in Catalonia. In November of last year, Catalans held the most recent of these referendums, with more than 80% of voters choosing independence. The Spanish government has deemed these referendums illegal and do not officially recognize the results.

BN MPS SELL OUT SABAH, S'WAK: Sedition Act will criminalize calls for autonomy, rights - critics

KUALA LUMPUR - Critics of Putrajaya’s proposed amendments to the Sedition Act 1948 claim the changes would not only criminalise calls for Sabah and Sarawak’s secession from Malaysia but may also be abused to punish those seeking more rights for the east Malaysian states.

Once the revisions to the Act are approved and gazetted by both houses of Parliament, analysts and lawmakers alike fear that authorities may choose to interpret any demand for greater autonomy in east Malaysia as prompting secession.

Universiti Malaysia Sabah senior anthropology lecturer Dr Paul Porodong stressed that it should not be considered secession for east Malaysians to call for a review of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 — the treaty upon which Malaysian federation was founded — press for greater state autonomy, or to demand more oil royalties.

“My worry is they’ll lump everything into secession and silence the voice of the people,” Porodong told Malay Mail Online.

“Autonomy and secession are two different things. If there's a request to increase autonomy, that shouldn’t be interpreted as secession,” he added.

He noted that demands for increased autonomy for Sabah, for example, include removing interference from Putrajaya on the appointment of the Sabah chief minister, or giving top posts in federal departments in the state to Sabahans and Sarawakians.

“If it's illegal for people to ask for secession, make sure it's illegal for anybody in Malaysia to ask anyone to go away from Malaysia, like saying ‘Cina pendatang, go back to China’ or ‘pendatang India, go back to India’,” said Porodong.

Four volunteers with the outlawed Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia (SSKM) movement were charged with sedition last month for possessing pamphlets allegedly propagating Sabah’s secession from the federation.

Local police are also hunting down a woman called “Doris Jones” for allegedly masterminding the Sabah and Sarawak secessionist movement.

The Sedition (Amendments) Bill 2015 tabled in the Dewan Rakyat seeks to amend Section 3(1)(b) of the principal Act to “make clear” that any call to demand secession for any states from Malaysia is seditious, although it admits that such demand is already seditious under the current definition.

The amendments also seeks to impose greater punishments for sedition crimes, such as jail terms between five and 20 years for acts that result in bodily harm or property damage, and between three and seven years for general crimes under the same law.

The colonial era law currently imposes a maximum three-year jail term or maximum RM5,000 fine on first time offenders, and a maximum five-year jail term for repeat offenders.

Penampang MP Darell Leiking from PKR said the amendments show the extent to which the Barisan Nasional (BN) government is willing to go to silence demands for more rights for Borneo states, when these rights are enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement and in the Federal Constitution.

“The Sedition Act amendment is aimed to deter Sabahans and Sarawakians from demanding their rights in MA63 and the Federal Constitution and I believe if passed, they will create fear by alleging every demand as secession!” Leiking told Malay Mail Online, using the initials for the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

“The demands by many of those who shout for leaving the federation is an accumulation of anger at the way Sabah and Sarawak had been relegated, or in the words of many BN MPs too, ‘dianaktirikan’,” the Sabah MP added.

Sarawak Association for Peoples’ Aspiration (SAPA) president Lina Soo told Malay Mail Online that the Sedition Bill violates the understanding of the formation of the Malaysian federation.

“It's against human rights. The right to self-determination is the inalienable right of people of territory. Nobody can decide for you. Self determination is enshrined in international law,” the NGO head said.

Dr Arnold Puyok, senior lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s faculty of social sciences, told Malay Mail Online that the “use of deterrent laws will be ineffective in the absence of meaningful engagement”.

Putrajaya previously pledged to repeal the Sedition Act that critics claim have been used to stifle political opposition and dissent, but turned on its heel last year when it announced in November that the law will only be retained but expanded as well. - Malay Mail

Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK).

Jadi sekarang, adakah anda bangsa malaysia?

Sekarang anda faham? Jikalau ya, sila sebarkan mesej ini...

West Malaysians’ understanding of Malaysia Agreement ‘sometimes wrong’, Khairy says

CYBERJAYA, April 14 — Malaysians in the peninsula need to have a better understanding of the Malaysia Agreement 1963, an Umno minister said today amid increasingly vocal discontent over the perceived disenfranchisement of Sabah and Sarawak.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Malaysians cannot take the 1963 Agreement lightly, especially since the country continued to survive based on the decision by the two states to stick with Malaysia.

“Even our sense of history is sometimes wrong. We say Sabah and Sarawak joined Malaysia in 1963 but no, Sabah and Sarawak formed Malaysia together with the Malay peninsula in 1963,” he said in his keynote address at a dialogue with students of Multimedia University here.

Over the past several months, the authorities have been actively cracking down on the nascent Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia (SSKM) secessionist movement that has been operating largely on social media site Facebook.

The group has been harping on several grievances faced by Sabahans, most notably land grabs, the influx of illegal immigrants, comparative lack of infrastructure and development, distortion of historical facts regarding Malaysia’s formation as well as oil royalty rights.

Khairy today stressed that this is not the first time Malaysia has faced attempts to split the federation, having dealt with agent provocateurs during the time of Singapore’s exit in 1965 claiming that Malaya was only interested in making a slave out of Sarawak.

He said that the situation is far from what is being claimed, citing the RM30 billion allocation for development in both Sabah and Sarawak, including the long-delayed Pan Borneo Highway and RM600 million set aside to maintain the East Sabah Security Zone (Esszone).

He acknowledged, however, that there is still much that needs to be done to raise the quality of life in Sabah and Sarawak to be on par with the peninsula, including raising the per-capita income and also setting up basic infrastructure such as electricity, potable water and sealed roads in both states.

“This strain (on east-west relations) is a challenge that we cannot take lightly. If this relationship is brittle then our ties as a nation are brittle.

“If these ties break then we lose the ties that have been forged over 50 years to build a country called Malaysia,” he said.

Last week, Parliament passed controversial amendments to the colonial era Sedition Act, which will among others criminalise calls for secession of any state from Malaysia.

Critics of the move claim that it was done in response to the perceived rise in popularity of the SSKM movement, which has so far pulled in over 33,000 “Likes” on their Facebook page and made its alleged founder Doris Jones — a Sabahan based in the United Kingdom — a celebrity of sorts.

Nine individuals aged between 24 and 50 years were charged in February for allegedly supporting SSKM by handing out allegedly seditious pamphlets and mounting a signature campaign pushing for Sabah rights.

State police commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman had also said earlier a warrant of arrest for Jones has been issued under the Sedition Act the same month.

UN tells Putrajaya to withdraw amendments to Sedition Act

The United Nation's Human Rights high commissioner Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein today urged Putrajaya to withdraw its proposed amendments to the Sedition Act 1948, warning that the new provisions would seriously undermine the freedom of expression and opinion in the country.

He said the proposal also breached the Federal Constitution and the country's international human rights obligations.

Zeid also expressed concern over the tabling of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (Pota) in Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, saying that there were serious human rights shortcomings in the law.

"The UN Human Rights Office has long urged Malaysia to either repeal the Act or to bring it in line with international human rights standards.

"It is very disappointing that the government is now proposing to make a bad law worse.”

He added that the proposal would widen the scope of offences and new provisions for travel bans were also worrying as they might allow for arbitrary restrictions against individuals on the basis of an ill-defined law.

"These proposals are particularly worrying given that the Sedition Act has been applied in many instances to curb legitimate exercise of freedom of expression in Malaysia – including through arrests of individuals for merely tweeting their criticism of government policies and judicial decisions," he said.

Zeid also urged Putrajaya to review cases of all those who have been charged under the Act.

"Silencing dissent does not nurture social stability, but an open democratic space does.

"Curtailing the legitimate exercise of human rights in the name of fighting terrorism has been shown, time and again, to backfire and to only lead to festering discontent and a strong sense of injustice."

He said as chair of Asean, Malaysia should ensure that its leadership role at the regional and international levels is backed up by a firm commitment to ensure the human rights of all in Malaysia. – April 9, 2015.

‘Nazri still believes Sabahans stupid’

Where were the laws that federal minister Nazri Aziz was referring to when the sinister Project IC was executed to issue MyKads to illegal?

KOTA KINABALU: A senior lawyer here has accused federal minister Nazri Abdul Aziz of “lying” when he said it will be “difficult” for the federal government to re-issue new MyKads for Sabah because it involved “laws” which needed to be studied.

Demanding to know what “laws” Nazri was referring to, Daniel Jambun said: “Nazri is lying and avoiding the proposal. He still believes Sabahans are stupid and can be lied to.

“He has the audacity to say it is difficult to solve the MyKad problem when the solution is right in his very hands.

“What laws is he talking about? If there are laws to be looked into, then look into them.”

Jambun, who is Sabah State Reform Party (STAR) deputy chairman, said Nazri’s explanation clearly showed that Putrajaya has not learned anything from the Lahad Datu intrusion and bloodshed, and persists in toying with the lives of Sabahans.

“As far as we know, the federal government, through the National Registration Department, has the complete prerogative to re-issue MyKads anytime, even to change the designs anytime it wants.

“There is no need to pass such an undertaking through Parliament, or to have it gazetted, ” he said in a statement here.

Jambun, who is also the president of the Borneo Plight Malaysia Foundation (BOMIFO), challenged Nazri to explain what laws were used in the illegal issuance of hundreds of thousands of MyKads to refugees and illegal immigrants since the 1990s.

He reminded Nazri that it was he who arrogantly said the illegals were not a security problem in Sabah but that had blown back at him with the Lahad Datu intrusion by the armed Sulus.

“The fact is there was no law used except the law of the jungle and the shameless law of robbers, thieves and traitors.

“The federal government ignored the Federal Constitution and many other laws to commit the treasonous acts of issuing the MyKads to illegals.

“If they could do that for foreigners, why can’t they do the same legally for the people of Sabah?” he asked.

He claimed Nazri’s response to calls to revoke and re-issue bona fide Sabahans with a fresh MyKad gave the impression that the federal government wants to perpetuate the dominance of illegals in Sabah for political purposes.

“Why is it so easy to do the wrong thing and yet they [the authorities] refuse to do the right thing?”

In Sedition Act changes, detractors fear clampdown on calls for Borneo autonomy

KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — Critics of Putrajaya’s proposed amendments to the Sedition Act 1948 claim the changes would not only criminalise calls for Sabah and Sarawak’s secession from Malaysia but may also be abused to punish those seeking more rights for the east Malaysian states.

SABAH HENTIKAN KEHAMBAAN KEPADA MALAYA!

Salam hormat warga Brunei, Kesatuan Malaysia dan Singapura,

4. Walau bagaimanapun, Her Majesty  Queen Elizabeth II mengizinkan pembentukan Kesatuan Malaysia dimuktamadkan pada 16 September 1963 yang merangkumi North Borneo, Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, Sarawak dan Singapura tanpa Brunei.

Sedition Act a violation of Malaysia Agreement

The Sarawak Council held that the right to secede was implied in MA63.

KUCHING: Bandar Kuching MP Chong Chieng Jen has pointed out that the criminalisation of any talk of secession, under proposed amendments to the Sedition Act 1948, was a violation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

He said that DAP MPs would oppose the Sedition Act and called on all MPs in Sarawak to do likewise, for the sake of the state to protect its constitutional rights. “Let us put aside politics and place the interest of Sarawak above all.”

“The Sedition Act is a travesty under the terms for the formation of Malaysia,” said Chong who is also DAP Sarawak Chairman and Kota Sentosa Assemblyman. “The Sarawak Council, predecessor of the Sarawak Assembly, held that the right to secede was implied in MA63.”

He was condemning the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) in Putrajaya for tabling amendments to the Sedition Act on Tuesday.

Chong noted that the new Sedition Act does not allow the right to bail. “You have to stay in the lockup until the whole case is over.

SSKM activists are traitors – Rahim

PANTAI Manis assemblyman Datuk Rahim Ismail yesterday described the ‘Sabah dan Sarawak Keluar Malaysia’ (SSKM) players as the country’s traitors.

“Malaysia is a country that practises democracy and hence, is able to tolerate harsh criticisms, but in the SSKM issue, we cannot take lightly the actions of the SSKM members because they affect the harmony and fate of 3.5 million Malaysians in Sabah that comprise of 30 ethnic races,” he said.

He said SSKM members deliberately wanted to raise anti-federal sentiments among Malaysians in Sabah, particularly among the young people in the rural areas.

“This is very dangerous because the young generation should be educated and empowered with knowledge that is useful and can help them become citizens who will lead the country in the future,” he said.

Rahim said some of the members of SSKM comprised of leaders who had failed to garner support during the 12th and 13th general elections.

“They have also recruited and sponsored Doris Jones, a woman believed to be a Malaysian and a Sabahan residing in the United Kingdom to wage war in the social media concerning SSKM,” he said.

Rahim described the actions of Doris Jones as biased as she did not represent the thoughts of the majority of Malaysians living in Sabah on the issue of SSKM.

He reminded that members of SSKM probably wanted to follow the footsteps of other separatist groups in other countries, including Referendum Scotland which had yet to successfully divorce itself from the United Kingdom.

“But Referendum Scotland cannot be likened to SSKM,” he said.

“It is clear that members of SSKM are dishonest and only wanted to create discord and disunity among the people in Sabah by using the anti-West Malaysia sentiment, although they know their actions are not realistic and are considered treason to the country.

“Let us move forward and by all means, we cannot gamble our future with something we know nothing at all,” he said.
